Buckeye Lake approves $100 demolition fee, refers solicitation and driveway review to committees

At its June 8 meeting the Buckeye Lake Village Council approved an amendment to the village fee schedule to include a $100 demolition permit fee. The motion, made by Councilor John Lemmon and seconded by Councilor Deb Julian, passed on a 7–0 roll-call vote.
Planning and Zoning had recommended the permit and a fee not to exceed $100 to ensure demolitions are handled properly; Development Director Olivia Newbold reported she had reviewed municipal practices in other jurisdictions and pointed to demolition standards in the new development code (Section 1050.03). Council instructed the relevant staff and committees to incorporate the change in the fee schedule.
Councilor Douglas Keener raised a separate concern about door-to-door solicitation, saying the practice has become a nuisance; the council referred that matter to the Public Safety Committee for further consideration, including possible prohibition or a permit requirement. Councilor Don Cable asked that review of driveway lengths be formally added to the New Business record so it can be considered through the appropriate review channels.
The council closed the meeting with brief member remarks and adjourned at 8:08 p.m.
