License board issues written warning to Greensboro Volunteer Fire Company for late event notice

The Caroline County Board of License Commissioners voted June 24 to issue a written warning to the Greensboro Volunteer Fire Company after staff reported the group held an event June 20 without submitting the mandatory five-business-day notice.
Board staff said the only communication received was an email sent Friday, June 19, informing the office that the group had an event scheduled for the following evening. Staff displayed the message and quoted its text to the board: "I'm sorry for the labor to fly, but I have a party tomorrow from 9PM to 1AM," the staff read aloud as the late-notice example.
Commissioners discussed remedies and disagreed briefly about whether to bring the license holder before the board for a formal hearing. The board decided to have staff send a written warning to the license holder and to cc the president and chief of the Greensboro Volunteer Fire Company so the organization is broadly informed that future failures to provide timely notice will lead to a formal hearing.
A motion to approve the warning letter was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote. Board staff said it will finalize the letter, add the cc lines requested by commissioners and file the notice in the license holder’s record.
