Shelby County Commission approves minutes, bills and multiple procurement resolutions

The Shelby County Commission met at 8:30 a.m. June 8 in the County Administration Building in Columbiana and approved the day’s agenda items, including minutes, financial registers and several procurement resolutions.
Commissioner Rick Shepherd moved to approve the May 26, 2026 minutes; Commissioner Robbie Hayes seconded. The record shows six yeas (Commissioners Lindsey Allison, Robbie Hayes, Jon Parker, Kevin Morris, Rick Shepherd and Josh Sisk) and three abstentions (Elwyn Bearden, Tommy Edwards and Ward Williams). A separate motion to approve the June 2, 2026 minutes passed with six yeas (Bearden, Hayes, Edwards, Parker, Morris and Shepherd) and three abstentions (Allison, Sisk and Williams).
Commissioner Josh Sisk moved to approve bills, requisitions and the check register for governmental and proprietary funds; the motion passed unanimously.
On procurement, the commission recorded that "no bids were received for an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle," and authorized purchases under the State of Alabama bid law (Resolution 2026-06-08-04). The commission awarded concrete-pipe contracts for both pick-up and delivered items to Foley Products Company and Dunn Utility Products as the lowest responsive bidders; detailed line-item prices and vendor assignments were entered into the official bid files (Resolutions 2026-06-08-05 and 2026-06-08-06).
The commission unanimously approved Resolution 2026-06-08-07, appointing Jill Lee, identified in the minutes as a former Shelby County District Attorney, to the Shelby County Community Corrections Corporation (S4C) board to fill the vacancy left by Jennifer Nalu. The resolution indicates the appointment is effective immediately.
The meeting concluded after the commission approved additional airport and bridge-related resolutions and a motion to adjourn at 9:25 a.m.
