Ottertail council approves consent agenda, consultant contract and local donations

At its Feb. 19 meeting, the Ottertail City Council unanimously approved the consent agenda (including Resolution 2026-07 accepting donations), authorized travel for staff to a Minnesota Rural Water conference, authorized a three-year consultant agreement with Saehr Consulting Services, and approved a $550 appropriation to the East Otter Tail County Fair.
The City of Ottertail City Council on Feb. 19 approved multiple routine and administrative items, including a consent agenda that contained financial and permit reports, donation acceptance and contracts, and several approvals and appropriations.
Council Member Michael Windey moved to approve the consent agenda with additions and corrections; Council Member Jill Carlson seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The consent agenda included: approval of prior meeting minutes (Jan. 15 regular; Jan. 26 work session & special meeting; Feb. 1 work session); Resolution 2026-07 accepting donations; approval of the 2026 Household Hazardous Waste contract (June 11, 2026); two LG220 exempt permits for Ottertail Ducks Unlimited (Feb. 20, 2026) and Ottertail NWTF (March 20, 2026); monthly financial and zoning permit reports; and a water-fund services-sold report.
During departmental reports, Fire Chief Ahlfs said the department handled four medical calls and no fire calls. Clerk-Treasurer Amanda Thorson moved — and Council Member Jill Carlson seconded — approval for the city coordinator and the clerk to attend the Minnesota Rural Water Conference in St. Cloud March 3–5; the council approved the travel request.
On new business, Council Member Jill Carlson moved to authorize Clerk-Treasurer Amanda Thorson to sign a three-year consulting agreement with Saehr Consulting Services; Council Member Elizabeth Augustus seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The council also approved a $550 appropriation to the East Otter Tail County Fair after a motion from Council Member Carlson and second from Council Member Jerry Martin.
The meeting closed after a motion to adjourn at 5:47 p.m.
