Ottertail council approves cooperative RFP to study solar for fire hall and community center; schedules fire hall work session

Ottertail — The City of Ottertail council on Jan. 15 approved seeking a cooperative request-for-proposal to study solar options for the city’s fire hall and community center and scheduled a work session to continue discussions about a fire hall expansion.
Cedar Walters of West Central Initiative presented a solar analysis for the fire hall and community center on behalf of Griffin Peck and WCI. After the presentation, Council Member Michael Windey moved to place the project details into a cooperative RFP led by Lakes Country Coop Services; Council Member Jerry Martin seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Separately, an agreement for services with Design Intent Architect of Fergus Falls was discussed in connection with a proposed fire hall expansion. Council agreed to hold a work session with Design Intent, the city attorney and council members on Monday, Jan. 26 at 4:30 p.m. at City Hall for further discussion of the expansion plan and any outstanding contract details.
The council also approved the 2026 list of liaisons and consultants and the 2026 regular meeting schedule during the same session. The meeting adjourned at 7:05 p.m.
Next steps: City administration will prepare details for the cooperative RFP for solar and convene the Jan. 26 work session to discuss the fire hall expansion with Design Intent and the city attorney.
