Fulton County presents South Fulton health clinic, jail overhaul and local infrastructure plans to Chattahoochee Hills
Summary
Fulton County officials briefed Chattahoochee Hills on a planned Grady-partner emergency clinic in South Fulton, a 10‑year jail capital program estimated at roughly $1.1 billion, and continued TSPLOST-funded transportation and wastewater projects that include pump-station work in Chattahoochee Hills.

Fulton County Chair Rob Pitts and County Manager Richard (Dick) Anderson told Chattahoochee Hills council members on March 3 that the county is pursuing major investments in healthcare, corrections and infrastructure that will affect South Fulton communities.
Rob Pitts highlighted Fulton’s new AAA bond rating and described a phased plan — beginning with a freestanding emergency clinic in South Fulton developed with Grady Health, followed by a medical office building and, ultimately, a new hospital — intended to address long-standing gaps in local access to emergency and specialty care.
County Manager Dick Anderson laid out progress on compliance with a U.S. Department of Justice consent order for the Fulton County Jail and described a multiyear capital program to improve capacity and separate special-needs inmates. Anderson described an initial special-purpose building budgeted at about $550 million within a roughly $1.1 billion two-part program and said the board has committed substantial funding to address staffing and facility needs.
Fulton County Public Works Director David Clark described the TSPLOST (transportation special purpose local option sales tax) program that directs roughly $500 million to county projects every five years and urged renewal on the November ballot. Clark also described wastewater work that will expand Camp Creek treatment capacity and related pump stations: two complete pump stations in Chattahoochee Hills (Milan Road opposite Serenbe and Little Bear) and two projects under design (Friendship Road and Campbellton Crossroads) to serve growth and future development.
Why it matters: the clinic and wastewater improvements could change local service access and land-use viability for parts of south Fulton, and the jail program represents a major bonded capital commitment by Fulton County.
