Interim superintendent says health department coordinating COVID monitoring; state asked to delay ADM count

Mrs. Wiltfong, interim superintendent, told the MSD of New Durham Township school board on Aug. 12 that local health authorities are in close contact with district staff to monitor and trace COVID-19 cases as the year begins. "The Health Department keeps close contact with the schools as well as keeping up to date on monitoring numbers and tracing for Covid," she said.
Mrs. Jedrysek, board president, and Mrs. Wiltfong also noted that the district's nurse, Sara Amms, is maintaining an internal daily log of student incidents. "Our nurse, Sara Amms is also keeping internal data, logging all student incidents daily," Mrs. Schnick reported during the meeting.
In reporting broader state-level steps, Mrs. Wiltfong said Governor Holcomb announced he is requesting that the State Board of Education delay the ADM (average daily membership) count for this year so schools with students learning virtually will receive funding allowances. The board also conducted routine business during the meeting, including approving minutes, personnel actions and financial reports. The meeting adjourned at 6:40 p.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for Sept. 9, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. in the media center.
