The City of Byron Mayor and Council handled a string of routine and policy items in a roughly 30-minute meeting on Aug. 16, 2021, approving zoning changes, personnel actions and administrative adjustments by recorded unanimous votes.
Rezoning and special exception: On a motion by Chris Hodges, seconded by Rusty Adams, the council approved rezoning parcel 055B 020 from R-3 Residential to C-3 PUD following a public hearing that drew no speakers for or against. Separately, the council approved a special exception for 125 White Oak Lane (parcel 053B 058) to allow a noise barrier fence; the motion (James Richardson, seconded by Chris Hodges) passed unanimously. Budget and ordinance actions: The council approved a resolution authorizing supplemental appropriations tied to the FY2020 audit (motion by Rusty Adams, seconded by Chris Hodges). Closed session and appointments: The council entered closed session at 6:16 p.m. under O.C.G.A. §50-14-2 to discuss personnel matters after a motion by Chris Hodges, seconded by James Richardson; the minutes record those voting in favor as Council Members Chris Hodges, Rusty Adams and James Richardson. The meeting returned to open session at 6:28 p.m. on a motion by James Richardson, seconded by Chris Hodges. The council approved appointments to the positions of Court Administrator (motion by Rusty Adams, seconded by James Richardson) and Deputy City Clerk (motion by James Richardson, seconded by Chris Hodges) and adjourned at 6:31 p.m.
