Daniels County approves routine business: agenda, minutes, tax correction and personnel steps

Daniels County commissioners handled several routine administrative items during the Sept. 3–4 meeting.
The board approved the meeting agenda and the August 2024 minutes by unanimous voice vote. Commissioners likewise approved payroll and journal vouchers.
The board approved tax correction number 149 (personal property) by motion; county staff noted the correction increases county receipts. Commissioners also authorized the county clerk to complete a form releasing excess pledged securities at Independence Bank after county funds moved into the STEP program; the bank assured the county it would re-pledge collateral if needed.
Personnel: the clerk reported difficulty recruiting for a part-time office clerk and presented Cathy French as a candidate. Commissioners approved bringing her back on part-time contingent on any required state fingerprint/background checks; staff will run the checks before finalizing employment.
Other administrative approvals included three task orders allocating tobacco-program funds to Sheridan, Roosevelt and Valley counties; those task orders passed by voice vote.
The meeting included several procedural temporary adjournments for scheduled agenda timings and coordination with city representatives on later items.
