Daniels County staff told commissioners on July 15 that the county’s auto policy requires lease agreements with outside entities that operate county firefighting vehicles. Staff presented three near‑identical agreements for the White Tail Fire Department, the Department of Natural Resources and the Peerless Fire District. The leases use nominal consideration ($10) and run one year from signing, then continue month‑to‑month unless terminated in writing.
Logan Olsen (staff) explained the agreements are intentionally basic: they document insurance responsibilities and identify vehicles for the county’s insurer. Commissioners asked staff to get vehicle lists and contact information for Whitetail and Peerless representatives before signing. Staff reported the DNRC contact details were already on file.
Commissioners authorized the chairman to sign the agreements once the entities provide vehicle information and insurance documentation. Staff will distribute the fully signed copies to the county, the contractor/owner and the entities’ representatives.
