Pennock council approves street sweeping; sets $28/hour for two maintenance workers after closed session

The Pennock City Council on Wednesday approved contracting street sweeping for the city and—after a closed personnel session—set pay for two maintenance employees at $28.00 per hour.
Council member Kerry Gross moved to accept the agenda at the start of the meeting; Council member Bruce Bastin seconded and the motion passed. The council then approved the consent agenda, which included the Oct. 1, 2024 minutes and payment of November bills, on a motion by Bastin and a second from Gross.
Council member Bruce Bastin moved to schedule street sweeping for the city; Council member Karen Skaggs seconded, and the motion passed. Mayor Kevin Crowley said he would work with Clerk Dawn Johnson to arrange the work.
The council voted to close the regular meeting at 7:19 p.m. to discuss a maintenance‑position personnel matter; the motion to close was made by Council member Kerry Gross and seconded by Council member Bruce Bastin. In closed session, the council approved paying both snow‑plow employee Kevin Krieger and maintenance employee Donavan Peters $28.00 per hour. The regular meeting was re‑opened at 7:29 p.m.
With no further substantive business, Council member Karen Skaggs moved to adjourn; Council member Bruce Bastin seconded and the meeting was adjourned at 7:31 p.m. Clerk‑Treasurer Dawn Johnson recorded that official minutes will be approved at the next council meeting.
