Park Rapids Area School Board approves consent agenda including multiple resignations and hires

At its July 8 working meeting the Park Rapids Area School Board approved the agenda and a consent agenda that accepted four staff resignations, approved seven staff hires (including teachers and support staff) and authorized posting a new transportation route.
Chairperson Safratowich called the Park Rapids Area School Board to order at 7:30 a.m. and the board approved the meeting agenda and addendums after Member Morgan moved and Member Kocka seconded the motion.
The board approved a consent agenda moved by Member Kocka and seconded by Member Morgan that included approval of the June 16, 2025 working meeting minutes; acceptance of resignations from Ashley Hensel (paraprofessional), Leah Weaver (junior-high volleyball coach), Devonne Erickson (paraprofessional) and Amy Sorenson (paraprofessional); and multiple hires. Approved hires recorded in the minutes were Ashley Hensel as a Century Elementary teacher; Lindsay Johnson as a Century Elementary teacher; Ryan Peterson as a 0.5 FTE co-BPA advisor; Adam Gudmundson as a bus driver; Devonne Erickson as a high school cook’s helper (6.25 hours per day); Amy Sorenson as a high school cook’s helper (5 hours per day); and Christina Zimmerman as a Century Elementary teacher. The consent agenda also authorized posting a new transportation route.
The approved consent items replace and fill staff positions for the coming school year and include both instructional and support roles. The minutes do not record additional debate or detail about candidates beyond titles and assigned hours for food-service positions.
The meeting record shows the consent agenda was approved without further amendment; the board adjourned at 7:49 a.m.
