Chief of Police Eric Hanneken told the Pierz City Council on Jan. 26 that the department handled 958 calls for service in 2025, averaging just over three calls per day.
Hanneken said Wednesdays were the busiest day, with peak activity between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and that November recorded the highest monthly volume. He reported securing more than $78,000 in non-taxpayer funding through grants and programs to support departmental equipment and needs.
The department has ordered a new squad car expected to arrive in March or April 2026. Hanneken also raised the possibility of retaining the current squad vehicle for general city use because the city has a limited pool of vehicles; council members said they would review that option at a future workshop.
No formal action was taken on the report. Council members thanked Hanneken for the department’s work in 2025.
