Votes at a glance: Northfield council approves minutes, mayor's-court disbursal report, watershed membership and a tax-advance resolution

The Village of Northfield council on Nov. 10 took several administrative votes and approvals summarized below.
Approval of minutes: Council approved the Oct. 27, 2021 regular meeting minutes. Motion to approve was made by Councilperson Renell Noack and seconded by Alan Hipps; roll-call votes were all recorded as yes.
Mayor's Court disbursal report: Law Director Brad Bryan presented the October 2021 Mayor's Court Disbursal Report and Council voted to accept it. The motion to accept was made by Jenn Domzalski and seconded by Renell Noack; the motion passed by roll call.
Tinker's Creek Watershed Partners membership: Engineer Dan Collins requested authorization for the Village to join Tinker's Creek Watershed Partners for 2022. Collins said the annual membership fee is $1,000 and that the organization helps the Village meet community outreach and education requirements tied to the Village's EPA NPDES Phase II permit. Council authorized the membership; the motion was made by Alan Hipps and seconded by Nicholas Magistrelli, and passed by roll call.
Resolution No. 2021-45 (advance of levy proceeds): The council read Resolution No. 2021-45, requesting the Summit County Fiscal Officer to advance, in 2022, monies to which the Village is entitled from proceeds of tax levies for tax year 2021. Council voted to suspend the three-reading rule (motion by Renell Noack, second by Alan Hipps) and then to adopt the resolution (motion by Renell Noack, second by Alan Hipps); both motions passed by roll call.
Other items: Chief John Zolgus reported the police department's dispatch contract with Macedonia should be ready for council approval at the next meeting. Service Superintendent Jason Walters said leaf collection has begun, the Village now pays to dump leaves, and that a $3,500 computer chip is needed to repair the old salt truck; he said the Village will likely need a new salt truck and may have to act quickly to obtain one before winter. The Recreation Board announced a drive-through Santa event on Dec. 19 with gift drop-off and a holiday coloring contest.
