Sudbury School Committee approves FY25 Q3 budget update, communications survey and routine items

The Sudbury School Committee approved a FY25 Q3 year-to-date budget update and the School Committee Communications Survey during its May 19, 2025 meeting.
Don Sawyer, Director of Business and Human Resources, told the Committee the Business Department is beginning year-end close, is monitoring federal grants, and is preparing a budget reset through August to reflect staffing and enrollment changes. He reported 1,486 bus registrations have been collected to date. Committee members asked follow-up questions about DOE function categories and custodial/trash assumptions.
Chair Karyn Jones moved to approve the FY25 Q3 YTD Budget as presented; the motion passed on a 5-0 roll call. The Committee also approved the Communications Survey as amended (5-0) after Member Mandy Sim reviewed the survey process and minor edits were incorporated.
Superintendent Brad Crozier thanked the Committee and community for recent Town Meeting approval of the FY26 budget and related capital items. He also reviewed highlights from his annual report; Committee members asked about the evaluation timeline and goal setting.
The Committee discussed Pride Day logistics and agreed that materials for any School Committee table should be approved by the full Committee prior to June 8, 2025. The Committee reviewed operating protocols and agreed to consult MASC for facilitation of protocol revisions.
The meeting concluded with liaison reports, approval of several sets of meeting minutes, and a 5-0 vote to adjourn at 10:11 p.m.
