Community members urge Sudbury schools to recognize Diwali and Eid; calendar subcommittee charge approved

Kay Bell referenced a Boston Globe article and raised questions tied to a records request she had submitted.
Separately, the Committee voted 5-0 to approve the Calendar Subcommittee Charge as presented, which establishes the subcommittee that will review calendar items and related recommendations. The approval of the charge does not itself add specific holidays to the district calendar; public commenters requested formal calendar recognition and invited the Committee to consider those requests through the subcommittee process.
Committee members did not make a formal decision on adding Diwali or Eid at the meeting; those matters remain subject to further review by the Calendar Subcommittee and the full Committee.
The Committee also agreed to postpone final approval of the Communications Subcommittee Charge until committee goals are confirmed.
