Beaver Crossing board funds American Legion painting, addresses ballfield and pool maintenance

At its June 12 meeting the Beaver Crossing Village Board approved $2,500 toward painting the exterior of the American Legion building and directed a series of maintenance actions to address park and pool needs.
Evan Eberspacher, speaking on behalf of the American Legion, told the board the Legion building is village-owned and requested financial assistance for exterior painting. Trustee Lance Breitkreutz moved to contribute $2,500; Trustee Mike Banks seconded and the motion carried 4-0.
Trustees also discussed park and ballfield condition after eight years of use. Trustee Jere Leif said the fields may need dirt and aggregate and moved to purchase 12 bags of infield conditioner from vendor Odeys; Trustee Lance Breitkreutz seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Leif said he will meet with Jeff Cast and Mike Pankoke after the fall softball season to plan additional improvements.
The board addressed maintenance staffing and pay: Jim Miller, who had previously volunteered to mow the park and ball fields, will be paid $18 per hour for mowing moving forward; Leif will coordinate hours weekly with Maintenance Supervisor Alex Kohout. Kohout also reported that the baby pool has a leak that raises water usage by about 50% daily; the source of the leak remains undetermined.
On equipment, Ray Forman presented a scope for a proposed camera project and recommended using a lift to complete installation. Kohout reported the streetsweeper needs attention for a hydraulic issue and suggested Rose Equipment provide on-site maintenance training.
The board scheduled a special meeting on June 19 at 7:00 p.m. to address the Hazard Mitigation Plan. Trustees and staff will follow up on the painting payment, pool maintenance and planned ballfield improvements.
