Rock Creek council approves tree removal, signs, maintenance and permits in April 2 consent items

At its April 2 meeting the Rock Creek City Council approved a set of routine contracts, maintenance work and permits.
Public Works Curt Kubesh presented tree-removal quotes from Obi’s ($2,684), Haavens ($1,900) and a sealed lower bid from Mike Besta ($1,200). After discussion about prior stump-grinding issues, the council accepted Besta’s $1,200 quote contingent on confirmation that the work includes removal of all required trees; the acceptance was passed with recorded votes.
The council approved Colors by Craig for thicker 4x8 signs, two “No Parking” signs and a Public Works door sign for $775 including installation, and accepted a Carlson Heating & Sheetmetal quote not to exceed $850 to connect a water line to the Fire Substation tank.
For road and equipment maintenance, the council accepted SealTech, Inc.'s $5,376 quote for preventative maintenance at Timber Ridge, accepted A-1 Tire's $8,556.20 quote for grader tires, and selected Central MN Dust Control at $1.35 per unit for chloride application. The council also approved Low Impact Business Permits LIB-26-003 (M&M Companies) and LIB-26-004 (Jay Wenker Trucking Company); approved placement of an additional Rock Creek Lions Club display cabinet in the City Center; established a $50 annual operating permit fee for Nature Shores Resort; and approved payment of a $120 Wildwood Support invoice for employee handbook work.
Councilmembers said Public Works can proceed with interviewing part-time applicants and present a single candidate recommendation when ready. The council also approved April 18, 2026 as the City-wide Clean-up Day at no cost to residents.
