City engineer: mains complete for now; council approves $107,215 sewer pay application

City Engineer Matt Mohs told the Bellechester City Council on July 17 that the sewer lining project is progressing on schedule, saying the mains are "done until fall" and that lateral lining will begin in the next several weeks after televised inspections identified needed repairs. He said a change order will be required to address the size of pipe near the church.
After the update, the council approved Pay Application No. 2 for $107,215.09 for the sewer lining project. Councilmember Rich Majerus moved to approve the payment; Councilmember Mark Gerken seconded. The motion carried.
Mohs also reported that most laterals have been televised and a list of findings has been compiled to guide the next phase of work. The council was told the lateral work is scheduled to start in the coming weeks, with mains left in place until after the fall harvest season.
The council received a related update on the water meter replacement project: contracts are in place and a preconstruction meeting is scheduled for Aug. 1; Rochester Plumbing and Heating will handle meter installations, with an Oct./Nov. tentative schedule for completion.
Next steps: laterals lining will commence in the near term, the project team will process the required change order for pipe sizing near the church, and the water meter project will move into preconstruction on Aug. 1.
