Bellechester council adopts 2025 levy and budget, approves special assessment

Bellechester’s City Council on Nov. 20 approved the city’s 2025 final levy and budget and passed a special assessment resolution for county certification.
Mayor Jody Gordon presided over the meeting where Council member Rich Majerus moved to approve Resolution 2024.4 adopting the 2025 final levy and the 2025 budget; the motion was seconded by Kyle Blattner and carried. The council also approved the 2024 Special Assessment Resolution 2404.5 for county certification on a motion by Mark Gerken, seconded by Rich Majerus.
City Clerk Lisa Redepenning provided administrative context during the clerk’s report: registered voters at 7 a.m. numbered 100, there was one new registration on election day, and total ballots counted were 79. The meeting record lists vote totals for mayoral and council candidates (mayoral: Jody Gordon 65; other candidates and write-ins recorded as shown in the minutes).
Council members noted that water and sewer rates will be formally adopted after staff finalize meter software and obtain usage data from the recently installed meters. The clerk and treasurer will bring a rates recommendation back once the meter program is functional.
The council took no further fiscal action at the meeting; motions approving the levy, budget and assessment all carried without a recorded roll-call tally in the minutes.
