Bellechester council approves county hazard mitigation plan; clerk flags email fee and dust complaints

The Bellechester City Council voted Dec. 18 to approve the Goodhue County Hazard Mitigation Plan on a motion by Mark Gerken, seconded by Jered Buxengard; the motion carried.
City Clerk Lisa Redepenning told the council that Nuvera will begin charging $12.95 per month for email-only accounts starting Jan. 1, 2025, and she plans to work on converting city accounts to .gov addresses to avoid the fee after year-end tasks are complete. She also raised administrative items including quarterly billing and the timing for the second-half council pay.
Mayor Jody Gordon raised dust complaints related to operations by AG Partners; the council said it will review a dust ordinance. Council members also asked about a "no passing" sign; staff will contact Wabasha County and consider flashing signage.
The public hearing for the Pool Ordinance (first reading) was held and Mayor Gordon read the ordinance; no residents spoke during the public hearing and the hearing was closed. The council adjourned at 6:36 p.m.
