Bellechester council approves $303,714 payment to complete Visu-Sewer work

The Bellechester City Council on Dec. 18 approved payment of Pay Application No. 4 for $303,714.29, with $36,783.64 held back, to complete contractor Visu-Sewer's work on the city's sewer lining project. The motion to approve payment was made by Council member Rich Majerus and seconded by Council member Kyle Blattner; the motion carried.
City Engineer Matt Mohs provided the update on the sewer lining work, saying crews will continue as weather permits and that some manhole work and lateral lining may be carried over to spring while staff strive to finish as much as possible this season. "This will complete Visu-Sewer work on our project," the update states.
The payment was described in the meeting as the final pay application for Visu-Sewer's contract on the project. No vote tally by individual council member was recorded in the minutes; the minutes record the motion as carried.
The council also addressed project timing and outstanding items: manhole repairs remain, and a small amount of lateral lining work may be postponed until weather allows. Staff did not set a new completion date during the meeting.
The council adjourned at 6:36 p.m. after handling the sewer payment and other agenda items.
