Palos Park honors two officers credited with reviving a woman with CPR and AED

The Palos Park Village Council on June 22 recognized two Palos Park police officers for life-saving actions after a May 23 cardiac arrest.
Commissioner Polk introduced Officer Bob Katsianis and Officer Scott Van Winger and described how Officer Katsianis arrived first, began CPR and used a patrol AED provided anonymously by a local physician, and how the two officers, working together, restored the woman’s pulse before fire-rescue personnel arrived. The woman was transported by the Palos Park Fire Protection District to a regional hospital for further care.
Mayor Nicole Milovich Walters and other council members presented commendations. Officer Katsianis said, "We appreciate the recognition and we're very happy that lady was able to recover and is still alive." Officer Van Winger said it was an honor to serve the community.
