The Fountain Green City Council on May 20 approved a building-permit request for a shop at 185 N State Street after the planning and zoning commission recommended the plans met local ordinance requirements.
Mayor Willard Wood read the planning and zoning commission's recommendation letter to the council, saying the submitted plans met the requirements set out in the city's ordinances as presented. The commission's recommendation served as the basis for the council's consideration.
During the discussion, council members and the applicant clarified utilities and intended use. The council noted the plans show electrical power to the proposed building but no water or sewer. Curt Neilsen stated there is a sewer line and an easement crossing the property but that the proposed building meets required setbacks. Cayton Lund said the building will be used to store heavy equipment, personal vehicles and household and yard items.
Council member Rich Walker moved to approve the building-permit request as recommended by the planning and zoning commission; Vaughn Jacobsen seconded. Roll-call votes recorded by the deputy recorder were: Kerry Farnsworth — yes; Vaughn Jacobsen — yes; Rich Walker — yes; Kim Johnson — yes. The motion passed with a tally of four yes votes, zero no votes and zero abstentions.
Deputy Recorder Laura Beagley will draft a signed letter of approval for Cayton Lund to file with Sanpete County. The council closed the special meeting at 2:09 p.m.
The approval authorizes the applicant to pursue county filing; it does not itself indicate county acceptance or issuance of a county permit.
