The Fountain Green City Council cleared a package of administrative and financial items at its May 12 meeting, adopting a tentative FY2027 budget, approving a negotiated tower buyout, and authorizing several routine purchases.
Budget: Michelle Walker presented a tentative FY2027 budget showing revenues and expenditures of $1,285,540 and proposing a 3% cost‑of‑living adjustment for employees. Vaughn Jacobson moved to adopt the tentative budget as presented; the motion passed unanimously. The council scheduled a public hearing for June 18 at 6:00 p.m. to open and amend the FY2026 budget and to adopt the final FY2027 budget.
APC tower buyout: Council discussed an APC buyout offer initially at $268,000 that was negotiated to $302,000. Rich Walker moved to accept the $302,000 offer contingent upon the city attorney approving contract language to resolve ambiguities; the motion carried unanimously.
Other approvals and procurements: The council adopted CiviclinQ for online code hosting (one‑time migration $1,000; annual $500). It authorized public works to purchase up to $1,000 in battery‑powered tools and awarded the black‑coated pickleball/bowery fencing bid to United Fence for $12,167. Council also corrected a vendor name on city bills and approved the bills.
Cemetery ordinance and veterans memorial: Staff presented consolidated cemetery ordinance language including new perpetual care fee guidance (residents $300 per unused grave; non‑residents $900). Council also approved a Resolution endorsing the Fountain Green Veterans Memorial, directed creation of a dedicated budget line, and designated cemetery land for the memorial. The cemetery moratorium remains in place for the new section until the map is finalized; existing plots may be sold.
