Meservey council approves insurance changes, permits, resolutions and well‑project payments

The Meservey City Council on March 9 approved a set of routine administrative and project-related items, including an insurance renewal, a building permit, a liquor license, three resolutions and multiple pay applications and change orders for the SEH new well project.
Insurance: Joey Dickman presented the insurance renewal and said premiums rose roughly 7–8%, in part because the new well was added to coverage. Dickman reported the council could save about $677 if the deductible were raised to $2,500 or about $1,248 if raised to $5,000. The council approved renewing the policy and increasing the deductible to $2,500 on a motion by Pat White, seconded by Jennifer Burke.
Permits and licenses: The council approved a building permit for Kaduce to place a 10-by-16-foot portable shed (motion by Burke, second by Myers). The council also approved Donna’s Lounge’s liquor license on a motion by Cyneva Myers, seconded by Jennifer Burke.
Resolutions: The council adopted Resolution 2026-05 (authorizing payment for certain obligations before council approval) on a motion by Jennifer Burke, seconded by Mike McNutt; Resolution 2026-06 (investment policy) on a motion by Pat White, seconded by Cyneva Myers; and Resolution 2026-07 (authorizing fund transfers to the library and fire department) on a motion by Cyneva Myers, seconded by Pat White. All passed by roll call vote.
Project payments and contracting: In addition to Cahoy Pump Service’s Pay Application #5 for $26,678.14, the council authorized a final pay application to Dakota Supply for $365.75, approved DSG Change Order #3 and DSG’s final pay application, and approved JB Holland Change Order #5. The minutes list motions and approvals but do not record all seconders for each line item; in particular, the second on DSG’s final pay application is not specified in the minutes.
The meeting concluded with the council adjourning; the clerk’s minutes record a tax‑levy public hearing and special meeting on March 30, 2026, and the next regular meeting on April 13, 2026.
