Sawyer County EDC opens business coaching hub and advances housing feasibility study

Adam LaMore, executive director of the Sawyer County Economic Development Corporation, told the committee the corporation is opening a business‑coaching hub (described as an incubator) at LCO University offering business‑plan help, marketing assistance and flexible meeting hours for Sawyer County residents. The program is funded for two years by a Thrive Grant and offers free services while the EDC evaluates demand.
LaMore said the EDC will partner with LCO University on a "tribal toolbox" workshop Aug. 1 and is organizing a nontraditional lenders forum later in August to connect local entrepreneurs with alternative financing options. He noted the program aims to help younger entrepreneurs and create succession options for aging business owners.
The EDC is also pursuing housing options: a housing committee met with an outside contractor to review building options and candidate parcels; the committee expects the contractor’s feasibility study to recommend whether particular parcels are suitable for local housing projects.
LaMore asked for county assistance in sharing program announcements with the chamber, local media and partner organizations. No formal county funding request was made at the meeting.
