North Butler board approves budget requests, personnel hires, policy first-readings and early graduations

At its Dec. 9 meeting the North Butler Community School District Board of Education approved a series of routine business items including budget requests, personnel hires, policy first readings and early-graduation requests.
On a motion moved by Jordan Nolz and seconded by Laurie Shultz the board approved SBRC requests totaling $137,643: $59,872 for increased enrollment and $77,771 for increased open enrollment out. The board approved the November 2024 financial reports and the December 2024 bill listing on a motion moved by Laurie Shultz and seconded by Jordan Nolz.
Personnel approvals included hiring Travis Neve as an associate at $14 per hour and adding substitutes Dale Johnson (bus driver) and Hailey Rinken (associate). Those hires were approved on a motion moved by Heather Shook and seconded by Laurie Shultz and recorded as carried unanimously.
The board also approved first readings of the 400 series (Employees) policies and first reading of policy 503.08, 'Discipline of Students Who Make Threats of Violence or Cause Incidents of Violence.' The minutes note these as first readings; final adoption would require subsequent board action.
Administratively focused items approved included the 2024–25 LAU plan, the 2024–25 TAG plan, Teacher Quality meeting notes, SIAC minutes and the Annual Community Report on Progress State Indicators, and fundraiser requests from FCCLA and SkillsUSA. All motions were recorded as carried unanimously.
Agenda Item 16, 'Approve Insurance Payment to Lower Deductible,' was tabled; the minutes do not record a mover/second or a subsequent date for reconsideration. The board adjourned at 8:08 p.m.; the tentative date for the next regular meeting is Jan. 13, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in Allison.
