Council approves site plan, asbestos inspection, demolition bid, appointments and EMS storage agreement

Resolution 49 authorized a proposal from Environet for approximately $700 to perform asbestos inspection and reporting services on two downtown park garages. Resolution 50 awarded a $16,400 proposal to Midwest Demo Contractors for demolition of two garages, removal of trade material, and construction of gravel parking in the downtown park; council agreed to award the contract but to delay setting a demolition date until any needed Board of Adjustments action is resolved.
Resolution 51 appointed Lindy, Karen and Craig to the Swisher Board of Trustees with staggered term expirations; council noted a fifth applicant applied after the agenda and will be considered at a subsequent meeting. Resolution 52 approved a five-year agreement with Johnson County EMS to store non-response equipment (an EMS trailer and an antique fire truck) behind City Hall; the agreement allows either party to terminate early with 90 days' notice and requires EMS to insure contents while the city insures the building.
Council also authorized submission of the fiscal year 2024 debt obligation report to the Iowa Treasurer's office as required by state reporting rules.
