Residents press council for clearer street maintenance plan after partial seal-coating

The Swisher City Council heard a public comment on July 22 from resident Greg Bman, who said recent seal-coating work on Swisher Review Drive stopped short of several patched or cracked spots and asked whether the town has a published multi-year street maintenance schedule. "They seal coated from the end of the asphalt on Swisher Review Drive up the hill... and they stopped there," Bman told the council, describing patches he said dated to about 2019.
Council members acknowledged the concern and said the city maintains an annual streets improvement program. One council member told Bman staff would check with the city engineer and get back to him. "We do street improvement projects every single year," the councilor said, adding the engineer can confirm priorities and scheduling.
Staff and council discussed making the town's streets plan publicly available. Melissa, a staff member who said the plan is maintained online, said the section on Swisher Review Drive is slated for next year. Council suggested posting or scanning the engineer's master plan so residents can see priorities and petition for a higher ranking.
The council also discussed related pavement issues on other roads and the role past construction and truck traffic have played in accelerating wear. Officials noted that funding constraints influence which streets are prioritized and that residents may need to raise priority with supervisors or through committee processes.
No formal action was taken beyond a promise to follow up: staff will consult the city engineer and contact Bman with the engineer's response.
