Red Oak Council sets Aug. 5 public hearing to consider quit-claim transfer to Larry and Marty Barnett

The Red Oak City Council on July 15 voted unanimously to set a public hearing for Aug. 5, 2024 to consider the disposal of city real estate by quit-claim deed to Larry and Marty Barnett.

Resolution #2024-36, which directs city staff to hold the hearing and follow the statutory notice and transfer process, was moved by Councilperson Tim Fridolph and seconded by Councilperson John Haidsiak. The motion passed on a roll call vote with Councilpersons Brian Bills, Tim Fridolph, John Haidsiak, Adam Hietbrink and Sharon Bradley recorded as ayes and no nays.

The resolution as presented in the meeting packet did not include a parcel description in the minutes; councilmembers did not expand on the specific parcel during the meeting. The public hearing set for Aug. 5 will provide an opportunity for the council to receive public comment and for staff to present the legal description, appraised value or transfer terms before any final vote.

The motion to set the hearing came amid the meeting’s other routine business, including approval of consent items and financial claims. No public comment on the property transfer was recorded in the July 15 minutes.
