Fiscal Advisory Committee reappoints Alex as chair, confirms officers and audit representative

The Duxbury Fiscal Advisory Committee held internal elections and approved routine procedural items at its meeting.

A nomination was made for Alex to continue as head of the Fiscal Advisory Committee; Alex said he would be happy to serve another year. The committee also nominated Frank Holden to remain vice chair; the vice chair nomination was seconded and recorded as passing 7-0-1 with Frank abstaining.

Andrew was nominated and confirmed as secretary for the coming term; the transcript records the slate carrying with an abstention noted. Beth was nominated to serve as the committee’s representative on the town audit committee; members described the audit role as involving one or two preparatory meetings with the auditors, attending the audit meeting (about 45 minutes to an hour), and circulating a standard letter to committee heads after the audit. The motion to appoint Beth carried 7-0-1 with an abstention recorded.

The committee also reviewed and approved multiple sets of meeting minutes (including Nov. 19, Dec. 17, Jan. 7, Jan. 14, Jan. 21, March 4 and March 14, 2026), correcting display dates where necessary and taking individual abstentions from members who were not present for specific meetings.

Members discussed recruiting from the town’s talent bank and agreed to invite five applicants (Jonathan Mark, Rio Donald, Peter Homer, Kip Dobler and Nick Bates) to give short presentations at a summer meeting; the committee will coordinate dates by email. The chair said a meeting schedule would be circulated, likely in late July or early August.
