Riceville superintendent reports construction, daycare and kitchen work nearing completion

Superintendent Barb Schwamman updated the Riceville board on several facilities projects and upcoming events at the Nov. 17 meeting.
Schwamman said the district’s Building & Grounds committee will schedule a meeting as construction comes to a close. She reported that daycare windows and doors are being installed and that masonry work is nearing completion. Staff are working through intercom system issues and finishing the FACS room work associated with the kitchen project.
Schwamman also noted that the district’s food service program was an award finalist and reminded the board of a Hall of Fame event set for Sept. 12, 2026. She referenced LifeWise programming, pending Keystone contracts and the Iowa Star Conference in her update.
No formal motions were required for the facilities update; the board instructed Building & Grounds to set a meeting to finalize outstanding construction items.
