At its April 21 meeting the Riceville Community School District board approved several personnel and policy items, including the hiring of a paraprofessional and a vocational agriculture teacher, approval of a librarian agreement, acceptance of resignations and a 2% increase to exempt salaries.
The board voted to hire Brittnay Bodermann as a paraprofessional and Sarah Mitchell as a vocational agriculture teacher (motion by Eastman, seconded by Guertin). The board accepted resignations from Rhonda Boyle (paraprofessional; retiring at the end of the school year) and Jill Beran (JV girls basketball coach). Those personnel actions were recorded as 5-0 roll-call ayes.
Board members approved the second reading of the 300-series policies and completed a first reading on a wider set of policy documents listed in the meeting record. The board also approved a librarian agreement and approved exempt-salary changes: a 2% increase across exempt salaries and an adjustment moving Nancy Eastman's salary to $55,000 with no summer stipends.
Other routine items carried by the board included approval of field trips (fourth grade to Decorah, kindergarten to Byron, Minn.), a FACS fundraiser (Pampered Chef) and a graduation list. The board approved 28E agreements with Osage and adopted the district DDSDP plan. Motions were recorded as carried by unanimous votes; the transcript does not provide text of the librarian contract or specific policy language.
