Riceville board approves hires, resignations and a substitute teacher

Board Member Guertin moved to hire Madison Turner as a paraeducator and Joan Grimm as a counselor; Board Member Eastman seconded the motion. The minutes record a roll-call vote with Board Members McCarthy, Hale, Guertin, Eastman and Board President Karl Fox voting aye.
Separately, the board approved resignations from paraprofessionals Sydney Byrnes and Marcy Jennison and accepted the resignation of counselor Jaden Bohr, effective June 20, 2025. The board also approved Karen Hartman’s change from full-time to part-time cook. Board Member Eastman moved the personnel package; Board Member McCarthy seconded, and the roll-call vote recorded all ayes.
The board additionally approved Megan Ryan-Leifeld as a substitute teacher on a motion by McCarthy and second by Guertin; the minutes show a unanimous roll-call vote in favor.
The board also approved open enrollment actions earlier in the meeting—four students into Riceville and two out to Osage—on a motion by Hale and second by Guertin. The minutes record these enrollment approvals as passing 5–0.
The minutes do not include individual contract terms, salaries, or start dates for the hires beyond the effective date for counselor Jaden Bohr’s resignation.
