Canby council approves gambling resolution, temporary liquor license and $326,088.86 in April vendor payments

Resolution No. 2025-05-06-1 authorizes the Canby Fire Department Relief Association to apply to the Minnesota Gambling Control Board for a premises permit to conduct one-day off-site gambling on June 8, 2025, at St. Peter’s Church, 307 4th St. West, Canby. The resolution was presented in the meeting materials and approved by motion from Councilmember Marisa Kack, seconded by Councilmember Susan Cram; the motion carried unanimously.
Councilmember Susan Cram moved and Marisa Kack seconded approval of a temporary liquor license for the A YMC Fair for July 24–26, 2025; council members voted in favor. The council also approved April 2025 vendor transactions in the amount of $326,088.86 after a motion by Diana Fliss and a second from Marisa Kack; that motion passed unanimously.
Other routine business included approval of the meeting agenda and the April 23 council minutes. The meeting concluded after an administrator’s report and an adjournment motion; no votes failed and no abstentions were recorded.
The administrator’s report noted the ADA-accessible back entrance to the community center is complete and operational. Bids for the Maple and Lexington extension project will be presented at the council’s next meeting on June 3.
