Reinbeck council approves summer event street closings, TIF cancellation and routine resolutions

At its May 4 meeting, Reinbeck's council approved street closings for the Fourth of July parade, RAGBRAI and the summer Farmer's Market, established mobile food vendor fees, approved a funds transfer resolution, canceled a TIF re-batement at 101 Progress Drive, certified two utility liens and approved other routine items.
The Reinbeck City Council on May 4 approved a bundle of event-related street closings and routine administrative measures.
Council approved street closings for the July 4 parade and fireworks after a presentation from Greg Snider of the 4th of July Committee; the council also recommended using county barricades for the Park Street closing. The Farmer's Market was granted its annual summer closure on Broad Street from Highway 175 to Main Street from June 1 through October. Councilmember Wambold presented and council approved the RAGBRAI street-closing plan for July 23, which includes closures of West Street, Main Street and Broad Street and additional adaptive-rider routes; the motions for these event closings passed by unanimous votes.
On administrative matters, the council approved Resolution #2026-13R to transfer funds to pay upcoming obligations and Resolution #2026-14R establishing fees for mobile food vending units; both resolutions passed on roll-call votes. Council also considered a TIF re-batement at 101 Progress Drive after a change in ownership and voted to cancel the re-batement rather than extend it to the new owner.
Other actions approved included acceptance of Tina Lyon's resignation from the Library Board effective May 11, 2026; certification of two liens for unpaid utility accounts to be filed with the County Treasurer; placement of three 'No Parking' signs on School Street to aid traffic; and inclusion of curb and gutter on Main Street in the Capital Improvement Plan. The council received updates on park projects, including shelter-house screen replacements by the Lions Club and planned assistance from Corteva at Elmwood Park.
Bills totaling $46,376.97 were approved as part of the consent agenda, and financial reports for April and March reconciliations were accepted.
