The Reinbeck City Council on Jan. 5 approved a variance to allow the People's Savings Bank ATM lane canopy to encroach beyond the standard east-side overhang setback. Alex Bower of Civil Concepts & Development presented the request, noting the canopy would sit up to 9.5 feet from the east property line and that the canopy columns meet setback rules.
Council member Dale Wambold moved to grant a 10.5-foot variance to accommodate the canopy overhang; the motion was seconded and passed with five ayes. The minutes record that this variance had been missed at the previous meeting and was brought back for council action.
No amendments to the request were recorded in the minutes, nor were any public objections noted. The council's approval allows the bank to proceed with the canopy as presented; any building permits or inspections will proceed through normal administrative channels.
