Buhl council approves routine 2025 appointments, banking and signature authorities

The Buhl City Council unanimously adopted a series of routine resolutions on Jan. 7 that set the city’s yearlong administrative and financial authorities.

Councilors approved Resolution 25-01 appointing Councilor Randy Towner as Mayor Pro-Tem and adopted Resolution 25-02 designating the Hometown Focus as the city’s official newspaper for 2025. The council also adopted Resolution 25-03 to designate official depositories, including B2 Bank of Buhl, and Resolution 25-04 authorizing the mayor and the clerk/treasurer to sign certificates of indebtedness when necessary.

The measures were presented as annual housekeeping items required for the city to operate. Motions were routinely seconded and carried with roll-call votes recorded as unanimous among voting members present.

Other adopted items included Resolution 25-05 naming Mayor James Matthews and Public Works employee Lyle Pederson as weed inspectors; Resolution 25-06 appointing Trent Pink as Buhl’s Elm Tree Utilization Board representative; Resolution 25-07 appointing Michael Kearney as city attorney and prosecuting attorney for 2025; and Resolution 25-08 appointing John Jamnick, P.E., and JPJ Engineering Inc., as city engineer.

The council also approved Resolutions 25-09 and 25-10, which authorize signature authority for disbursements (designating the mayor and administrator/clerk/treasurer, and authorizing the Mayor Pro-Tem to sign when those officials are unavailable), and Resolution 25-11 naming the Buhl/Kinney Senior Center as the official polling place for 2025.
