The Seminole County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously June 23 to adopt an ordinance rezoning about 12.96 acres on the north side of Merritt Street (approximately a quarter mile east of Ronald Reagan Boulevard) from R‑1/R‑2 residential to PLI (public lands and institutions).
Annie Sinoway, the county principal planner, told commissioners the rezoning is intended to allow a public park and community center and noted the parcel has a public/quasi‑public future‑land‑use designation with a maximum floor area ratio of 0.65. There was no public comment during the hearing; the district commissioner moved to approve and the board recorded a unanimous vote.
The ordinance had already cleared first reading on May 12, 2026; staff asked the board to adopt on second reading at this meeting, which the board did without amendment.
