The Richland City Council voted March 24 to schedule a public hearing on the fiscal year 2026 city budget for April 14 at 6:50 p.m. The action was taken during a brief special meeting called to order by Mayor John Capps at 7:15 p.m.
Councilmember Steve Pfeifer moved to set the hearing date and time; Councilmember Brei Beam seconded. The motion carried on a 4-0 voice vote, recorded in the minutes as "4 ayes." Earlier in the meeting, Joe Adrian moved to approve the meeting agenda; David Balster seconded and that motion also carried, 4-0.
Councilmembers David Balster, Brei Beam, Steve Pfeifer and Joe Adrian were present; Councilmember Michael T. Hadley was absent. City Clerk Sarah Claeys was listed as present. Mayor Capps adjourned the meeting at 7:16 p.m.
The scheduled public hearing will provide a formal opportunity for public review and comment on the proposed FY26 city budget on April 14 at 6:50 p.m., per the council action.
