The Canton City Council appointed Jeremy Hanson to a vacant council seat at its Feb. 12 meeting after council members reviewed two letters of interest and voted by paper ballot. Clerk Anne Koliha collected and counted the ballots and announced Hanson as the selection. "Clerk Koliha announced the person selected for the appointment was Jeremy Hanson," the minutes state.
The council approved Resolution 2025-07 formalizing the appointment by a motion from Jason Magnuson and a second from Jen Dowling; the motion carried. The council also approved an amendment to Resolution 2025-05 to add Hanson to committee assignments.
The appointment followed a brief procedural review of the applicants. Clerk Koliha then invited Hanson to come forward to receive the oath of office and take a seat on the council.
