Reinbeck council closes property tax levy hearing after administrator details levy figures

The Reinbeck City Council held a special property tax levy hearing on April 6, 2026, opening the meeting at 5:00 p.m. Mayor Jamie Eiffler presided; Councilmembers Wambold, Johnson, Trepp and Bueghly were present and Councilmember Pease was absent.
City Administrator Julie Wilkerson told the council the current certified property tax levy rate is $12.10487. Wilkerson said that, if the city kept the same budget for the next fiscal year, the levy rate would be $11.87046, but because of increases in employee wages, benefits and insurance the levy rate will be $12.10245 for the coming year.
The hearing record shows no written or oral comments for or against the proposed levy. Councilmember Johnson moved to close the hearing; Councilmember Trepp seconded. The council recorded four ayes and the motion carried. The hearing was closed at 5:05 p.m.
Councilmember Bueghly moved to adjourn the special meeting; Councilmember Wambold seconded. The motion carried on four ayes and the meeting was adjourned at 5:05 p.m.
