City Engineer John Jamnick told the council that the City of Buhl was not awarded a St. Louis County CDBG grant for its water-tower project. Jamnick said the advisory committee liked the project but prioritized other projects because the project has other potential funding sources.
Jamnick also reported that city staff and JPJ Engineering met with USDA Rural Development in Virginia to kick off the Congressionally Directed Spending allocation awarded to Buhl in 2024; the award includes funding for water-tower improvements. Administrator Tony Jeffries summarized St. Louis County’s CDBG results: 38 applications requested $5.76 million while the county had a $1.61 million funding pool; 28 projects were funded and 14 of those received more than 50% of what they requested.
The city will continue pursuing the water-tower work through the Congressionally Directed Spending allocation and other funding sources; staff will report back as grant and procurement steps progress.
