Buhl directs RFP for Ambulance Hall mold remediation as Essentia reports fast response times

The Buhl City Council voted Jan. 21 to direct the city administrator to request proposals from qualified remediation contractors for mold cleanup in the basement of the Ambulance Hall at 201 Forest St. The council recorded that no cost estimates were available at the time of the motion; the action was approved unanimously.
Earlier in the meeting Administrator Tony Jeffries reported on Essentia Health EMS operations in Buhl. Jeffries said staffing has improved and allowed Essentia to regularly staff a second ambulance. Essentia provided 2024 call-volume data and an average response time of 5 minutes from dispatch to arrival on scene, which the minutes note is below national rural and urban averages cited in the packet (14 minutes rural, 7 minutes urban). Councilor Teska-Erickson clarified that although the distributed materials identified the service as Basic Life Support (BLS), Essentia provides Advanced Life Support (ALS) as well, with paramedics on staff.
The council’s remediation motion instructs the administrator to solicit RFPs from qualified contractors for proper and professional cleanup and remediation; the minutes state no budgetary or cost figures were available at the meeting. The city will review proposals and return to the council for funding or contract decisions.
