The Buhl City Council approved hiring one applicant, Skylar Ronner, for the 2024–25 seasonal rink attendant position contingent on successful completion of pre-employment requirements. Council discussed outfitting rink attendants with shirts or hats for identification; the motion to hire was made by Councilor Towner, supported by Councilor Hadrava, and carried unanimously.
On property matters, staff updated the council on a Nov. 25 decision to grant an access easement to serve properties at 99 and 101 Jones Avenue after title issues identified by First American Title. The city attorney is drafting the easements and the city engineer is reviewing property descriptions; easements are expected to be available for council review before year end. This item was informational; no action was taken at the Dec. 3 meeting.
Staff also reminded councilors of training and regional events: the League of Minnesota Cities Elected Leaders Institute (foundational and advanced tracks), required Board of Appeal and Equalization training for at least one voting local official (recommended by Feb. 1, 2025 to qualify for the 2025 board year), and the Range Association of Municipalities & Schools annual dinner Dec. 19 with nominations due Dec. 9.
