Buhl council approves 2024 budget amendments and allocates $7,970 mining-effects balance

The Buhl City Council approved amendments to the 2024 General Fund budget at its Dec. 3 meeting, following Finance Manager Dianna Thronson’s recommendation and advice from the city auditor that line items deviating ten percent or more from budget should be amended. The Audit Committee reviewed and agreed with the proposed changes. Councilor Kealy moved to adopt the amendments; the motion was supported and carried unanimously.
Separately, staff reported that $7,970 remained from the 2024 Mining Effects allocation. Thronson recommended applying the remaining balance to the Damian Addition Phase 3/East Woodbridge/Seville/Jefferson Project for potential infrastructure expenses. Councilor Loeffler moved to allocate the $7,970 to that project; the motion was supported and carried unanimously. Officials noted these mining-effect funds are not part of the General Fund.
Both actions adjust the city’s 2024 financial statements and earmark a small, dedicated funding balance for infrastructure work associated with the named development areas.
