Red Oak City Council approves rental-inspection fees, waives permit fees for trade-school housing; tables $37,148 pay request

Council approved Resolution #2024-41, establishing fees for inspections of residential rental property within the City of Red Oak. The resolution was moved by Councilperson Tim Fridolph and seconded by Councilperson John Haidsiak; the roll-call vote was unanimous in favor.
Council also approved a request from the ROCIA Housing Committee to waive building permit fees for the new Red Oak Trade School housing project at 2907 N. 4th Street. The motion was moved by Councilperson Sharon Bradley and seconded by Councilperson Tim Fridolph and passed on a unanimous roll-call vote.
On financial items, the council approved city claims totaling $126,889.20 on a roll-call vote. A separate pay request (Pay Request 7-Final) from Bluffs Paving & Utility Co. Inc. for work on Eastern Ave. in the amount of $37,148.09 was discussed, then the motion to pay was rescinded and the request was tabled pending further information.
Council authorized a downtown assessment costing $2,500 to be paid from franchise fees; the motion was moved by Councilperson Brian Bills and seconded by Councilperson John Haidsiak and passed unanimously.
