Hoyt Lakes council authorizes filing for rural EMS grant after state award notice

EMS Director Olmstead told the council the state’s Office of EMS issued a data-collection grant and that the city received notice it had been awarded funds. In the meeting record the award figure is spoken as "$19,1011"; Olmstead said the grant is intended to reimburse or support personnel costs (salaries and benefits) and that the award applies to fiscal year 2024 activity. "It said specifically this grant is reimbursement for future expenses based on submitted budget and work plans," Olmstead said.
Councilors approved the resolution by voice vote. Staff said the grant paperwork requires the council resolution to accept the award and that the city will return required documentation to the state before funds are released.
Next steps: staff will finalize grant documentation and submit spending plans showing how the funds will be used for personnel costs.
