Hoyt Lakes city officials approved Change Order No. 5 and Pay Application No. 15 for the city arena project during the Dec. 22 meeting.
Recreation Director Peterson told the council crews removed older equipment from the compressor room, added a heater and reworked lighting circuitry to reduce frequent breaker failures. Peterson said crews have completed much of the punch list and the arena is close to full operation.
Project lead Bucky described Change Order No. 5 as covering a previously-missed locker-room door, additional structural steel associated with new bleachers and work required to accommodate an elevator and recessed wheelchair ramp. Bucky said some contractor markups were waived or reduced, which saved the city money on the change order. The council approved the change order and Pay Application No. 15 (recorded as $122.40) by voice vote.
Staff reported there remains contingency funding and that these items should finish the outstanding work once installed and inspected.
Next steps: staff will continue punch-list walk-throughs and confirm final payments when work is complete.
